NEDAVNO SAM na Etsy-ju naisla na YeeHaw, prodavnicu, slovoslagacnicu, stampariju.

YeeHaw radionica nalazi se na Thunder Roadu, Knoxville, Tennessee, USofA. Sve starinski, rucni slog, drvena slova. Na trecoj godini fakulteta smo imali srecu da u okviru Tipografije jedan rad izvedemo u slovoslagacnici, maloj radionici u podzemlju zgrade rektorata Univerziteta umetnosti. Kako je to dobar osecaj! Izvlacenje preteskih plitkih fiokica krcatih olovnim slovima, sve poslagano ogledalski naopako i spremno za boju i otisak. Tada sam se zaljubila u Gill Sans.


Nego, da se vratimo na YeeHaw. Oni prave diiiivne stvari. Sve ono sto zamisljam na nekom zidicu u kujni. Starinske botanicke ilustracije u formi prelepih cestitki, cisto grafickih. Ovakvi printovi me vracaju na stanoviste da su dve boje sve sto je dizajneru potrebno. Za ovakve cestitike, u Yeehaw radnji postoje i kao stvoreni ramovi, smekerski drveni, kao stari. Takvi me uvek podsete na onu pricu da se rad na enterijeru jednog chic njujorskog restorana zavrsava tako sto ekipa arty zanatlija uleti i krene u akciju majstorskog patiniranja.

I FOUND this great Etsy store called YeeHaw a few days ago. They make posters, calendars, note cards, all by hand.

YeeHaw custom letterpress printmaking and design shop is sutuated on Thunder Roadu, Knoxville, Tennessee, USofA. It is one good old fashioned typesetting letterpressing workshop. Back at the Faculty (of Applied Arts here in Belgrade, Serbia), we were lucky to have this course as a part of the Typography lectures. So we spent some time at the Faculty's typesetting workshop. What a ride that was! Pulling out those broad andshallow way to heavy drawers packed with lead letters, everything flipped, reflected and ready to get set in those forms and printed. That's when I fell in love with Gill Sans.

But, to go back to YeeHaw. They make lovelt stuff. Everything I picture on my kitchen wall, those old botanical illustrations printed like cards and ready to frame. Purely graphical, they make me remember that two well paired colors are all a designer needs. For these cards, YeeHaws offering the perfect frames to put the cards in, those really cool old looking wooden frames that remind me of that story that the interiour of a chic NYC restaurant is not done until one arty craftsmen crew doesn't fix it giving it one rusty glow.
