KLASIK LISTA zimskih poklona. Novogodisnjih, bozicnih ili rodjendanskih. Comfort food u sektoru igracki. Setting - hladno ucaureno vreme, tiho i ususkano, sa dovoljno vremena sa recharge i healing. Evo moje liste, mesta nisu numerisana:
1. SLAGALICA
Which brings me to another item on the list.
2. KALEIDOSKOP
pic via erinvision
Pogledajte divnu pricu o staroj tokijskoj radnji. Plus, Make Your Own Kaleidoscope, clanak iz magazina Popular Science iz 1944.

Evo nekoliko mnogo lepih, all via above&beyond.
Cudo jedno kako radi decja glava.

I pogadjate - nisam ga kupila.

U prodavnici stvari za kucu UNICA, opis kaze: Produced in a limited edition of 250 signed units each, artists Walter Martin and Paloma Munoz's work usually involves bizarre fairy-tale like images trapped in snow globes.

Eto. To vam je ta lista.
......................................................................................................
CLASSIC LIST of winter gifts. New Years, Christmas or birthday ones. Comfort food in toys section. Setting – crispy cold weather, quiet and tucked in, with enough time for recharge and healing. Here is my list, the seats are not numbered:
1. PUZZLES
Lately I discovered these new fancy puzzles with golden foils. And they glitter with making a complete sense if they are, for example, Klimt’s paintings turned into a puzzle. Of course, the ultimate ones for any age are UNICEF puzzles which mom and dad bought for us. This year, the popular one is Chagall’s red painting, in 2008 – round Season’s, and in 2007 - Voyage of Discovery: see image …and those old ones, ours, I cannot find any on the internet, here is only one of those, the round one. Those round ones are of particular magical value, as if they are kaleidoscopic. Which brings me to another item on the list.
2. KALEIDOSCOPE
I have no words for kaleidoscopes. They have a miraculous therapy effect and cause thrill in me at the very thought that each new pattern we see moment to moment is completely unique and unrepeatable. Kaleidoscope generates astonishment with life and makes me appreciate it even more. I could stare at this pipe with a few mirrors and tiny bits of colored glass for an eternity and beyond. The images it creates are like stained glass panels on a church or mandalas. There are a number of beautiful ones, but not all little pieces of glass are equally magical. Therefore, they need to undergo test-drive before bought. Especially these new ones, they get to be rather plastic, lame and non-magical. When they are proper, it is an out-of-body experience. Take a look at the wonderful story about the old Tokyo store. Plus, Make Your Own Kaleidoscope, the Popular Science magazine article from 1944. And here is one sweet-retro made of tin, compressed to go as an everyday tranquilizer, Japanese of course.
3. LIGHTNING GLOBE
Ultimate atmosphere light for a clean apartment without too many thingies around. Also very tricky to buy, mostly the stand gets problematic… Here are some very beautiful ones, all via above&beyond.
4. JEWELRY MUSICAL BOX
This is the trickiest piece on the list. Not because I’m having second thoughts on whether it should be in the list. It is one of those miraculous things which can make the childhood of a girl, although she is not being told that she is a girl and what she should like, and although she sees it only once in a while when she visits some people being special exactly for this musical box for jewelry. She never mentions it, she never asks for it, she only knows it exists. What happens inside a child’s head is something to wonder about. Anyway, the jewelry box. Plus, it plays whenever opened. Plus, when you lift the cover and the music starts, a ballerina spinning slowly comes out as well. You can stare at it for hours, just as at the kaleidoscope. But, the issue is that those boxes are veeery kitschy, they are not even camp, and those ballerinas are mostly quite badly modeled and colored. I mean, probably some girls from old-money families saw some beautiful porcelain spinning ballerinas, I’m sure this also exists. Objectively, the current issue with these boxes is that they are not updated and turned into some conceptual piece. They’re a perfect fit for that. Just a little twist and they would experience a crazy revival. If only the Moon River would play and with Audrey spinning in some Givenchy dress from Breakfast at Tiffany’s and there you go. This was one free-of-charge idea.
5. SNOW GLOBE
Just as all the others items in the list, this last one also tightrope joggles between kitsch and geniality. Snowglobe or snowdome was the single thing I eyed as a very concrete present for my sister when we went to New York. And you’re guessing – I did not buy it. The only acceptable one, found in the Museum of Natural History was heavy…some 5 kilos. Anyways, all around me catastrophically pathetic samples, tourist ones, or the ones actually being the picture frames. Y-u-c-k. Searching for acceptable if not brilliant sample, I came across these three, one very nice, one fancy and one phenomenally bizarre, all together with the date on a stand. First one via LoveToKnow, 2nd LemonAnnie, 3rd OhLesBoulANeiges.
But then! I bumped into a genial twist, exactly what the musical boxes need. The TRAVELERS series, started by artists Walter Martin & Paloma Muñoz in 2000. In the home accessories store UNICA, a description states: Produced in a limited edition of 250 signed units each, artists Walter Martin and Paloma Munoz's work usually involves bizarre fairy-tale like images trapped in snow globes. You can get them for $750 a piece in Unica store.
So, there's that list.
VIdela juce svojim ocima ;p
