Milena Pavlovic Barilli

NA DANASNJI DAN, pre tacno 100 godina, rodila se Milena Pavlovic Barilli.

Ovom malom paletom dodatno obelezavam taj dan kao kljucni u godini koju Srbija proslavlja obelezavajuci njeno rodjenje.

O njenom zivotu, njenom slikaskom, ilustratorskom, pecnickom, kostimografskom radu pronaci cete svasta na sajtu MilenaPavlovicBarilli nedavno postavljenom u okviru ove proslave. Ja cu samo izdvojiti neke meni omiljene, davno upamcene i novootkrivene, posebno drage i upecatljive.

Najpre nekoliko autoportreta po kojima je uglavnom znamo...



Pa nekoliko ulja na platnu, neverovatno vazdusastih, cudno setnih i sanjalackih. Setala je kroz aktuelne stilove nalazeci u svakom svoju specificnost lako i precizno.



Meni su najdraze i najspecificnije ove njene ilustracije koje je radila za razne super poznate svetske modne casopise. Chic poze i lepa lagana odeca, prozirne ilustracije sa sukobljenim bojenim povrsinama i tanjusnim linijama koje opisuju poneku svedenu crtu lica.






A ono sto me je silno razdragalo i posebno raspilavilo su ove ilustracije koje je radila pred sam kraj zivota, kada je imala samo 36 godina.

EXACTLY 100 YEARS AGO, Milena Pavlovic Barilli was born.

With this little palette, I join this years national celebration of this anniversary.

You'll find a whole lot of info at the new web site made for the occasion. About her life and work as a painter, illustrator, poet, costume designer. I've selected just a bit of those, the ones that are especially dear to me, some that I remember for ages and some newly found and strikingly beautiful. Firstly, a few of her well known self portraits...

Then, a few oil on canvas paintings, strangely light and transparent, misterious and dreamy. She walked through the current streams in art finding her own specific approach so easily.

For me, the dearest and the most important work are those she made for world known fashion magazines. Pretty ladies in chic poses, airy clothes, wonderful illustrations made with the ever contrasting colored surfaces and ultra thin and fragile lines giving the basic and complete info on the visage.

What striked me the most are these final fashion illustrations she made just before she suddenly died in NYC, aged only 36.

These illustrations are just wonderful, wouldn't you agree...
