One Tough Cookie

A atmosfera, fina, dinamicna, toplo porodicno prijateljska, komsijska i podsticuca. Grad generise dobro.

OUR DEAR street art diva, TKV, opened the exhibition of her work in Grad Cultural center.

Our little hostess welcomed us in an incredibly skilful and natural way, like she's done it a million times before. Big broad smile, crazy powerful energy, she seems like Kat von D's little sister or M.I.A.'s good friend.

First there was Amelie. When her simple, one color stencils started popping up in Belgrade it was such a pleasure for me to spot them. Now, golden sprayed stencil stands proudly at the exhibition, sealed and out of the streets, so small and discreet beside those newer and bigger ones.

These newer ones with the color infused were the next phase in this tough cookie's evolution. Her stencils wouldn't depict the famous persons we recognized, big color compositions started blooming in front of our eyes along with her talents. And, this are still not political notes, no pathetic notes, hermetical dear diary out in public space, TKV's works are city jewels and they're open to different interpretations and always adaptable to various contexts on a million different levels.

The exhibition itself is consisted of a few selected original stencils that are placed all together and covered in sprays There are also some bigger pieces, stencils executed on big plastic plates. Those sprayed on transparent plastic are especially interesting, since the work looks like it is floating a few inches from the rough brick wall. It is one smart moving from the street into the gallery space, though Grad is far from you usual gallery.

And the atmosphere, nice, dynamic, warm, familiar and friendly, neighbory and uplifting. Grad is generating Good.
