It's a 360!

Nedavno mi iskrsne omot albuma Bonfires on the Heath, londonskog retrofitted pop benda The Clientele.

Mozda to i jeste istina - bespolno i aseksualno bozanstvo.

Zatvorena lala cini nos, a dva pupoljka ruze za donju usnu. Genijalno!

OK, obviously it has been clear for a while and to everyone that this is the era of endless mix’n’matching. Our eclecticism went beyond all limitations and became the ultimate melting pot.

Ever since we discovered the inspiration boost at Faculty, which can hit you while you’re going through the Blue Note album covers for the zillionth time, I like to follow the happenings in the music album covers field. Just recently, the cover of Bonfires on the Heath album by London retrofitted pop band The Clientele came up.

I thought: wow! what a lovely illustration! it is somehow vintage and totally modern at the same time! someone tried real hard, and this looks like that painter…what was his name… Arcimboldo! (yes, yes, it’s true, I think without capitalizing the first letter, capitalizing slows me down)

So I did some googling, and what do you know – it’s not that it looks like Arcimboldo, it actually IS ARCIMBOLDO! Flora, dating back in 1591, oil on wood, 73 x 56 cm. Can it be that we closed the circle! The concept, patience, bizarreness, wonderfulness, all of this that belongs to the 16th century is completely alive right this minute.

A strange combination of saloon portrait and kitchen decoration, his strangely disturbing work is shockingly wonderful. This painting fascinates with its beauty, delicacy, softness and femininity, but also confuses with the strength of the facial structure which makes the goddess remind of a man a bit. Strong neck and robust torso covered with most gentle white, scented flowers, snowdrops, chamomiles, frangipanis, and then four fantastic roses on the cheeks, chin and forehead – pure yoga. Maybe this actually is the truth – genderless and asexual deity.

Closed tulip makes the nose and two rosebuds the bottom lip. Ingenious! Velvety cloak out of wood leafs, lily showing out of décolleté and a lily of the valley on the top of the head. If she spoke, this Flora would smell, rustle and move like Peter Gabriel made of fruits and vegetables in the middle of this super-distinctive Sledgehammer video.
