Kluz Closed

I nasmejana lica.

Ona istrajava i njene akcije rastu. Prica o tome sledi.

Predivni luster u centralnom holu, smucanje po naizmenicno pretoplim i ledenim prostorijama zagusljivog Kluza. Ne smeta nista, samo da cirkulisemo. Samo da nastavi da se desava.

....................................................................................................
BDW09 ended. This year as well we basically lived in one of the Belgrade buildings in which we never set our foot before, until a week ago. BDW gets me one building closer to Belgrade each year. We’re now kind of familiar with Sava Centar, SIV was spe-cta-cu-lar, Jugoslavija hotel and the Danube view, and this year – Kluz. Now we know all of its side passages, side-rooms and storages as we know our own pocket.

If you’re in a position not to worry about the timing and if you’re prepared for the surprises caused by the sudden change in the program, chances that you’ll have a great, refreshing and educational time are excellent. All that I heard was valuable to me, over years I trained myself and learned how to listen. I like portfolio lectures, with what is available goes a live story which you would never hear. I also like the lectures with segments from the current topics of the guest big shots, and presentations put together during the stay in the city, inspired by what’s found in it. That’s how Marcus Fairs of Dezeen gave us an overview of his website content viewed from a couple of perspectives, and started his presentation with the current state as found – pointless Belgrade’s trash bins. Hollow, wired, without a bag, concrete, without a tin insert. Bizarre. I constantly think about it and never got used to it. In the image above, on his laptop – how our local waste management guy must look like to be able to empty that concrete one. And smiling faces around Marcus.

It sounds insane, but in Kluz next to Beogradjanka, only two or three days ago we had Airside, Nicolas Roope (Poke, Hulger), Peter Bonnen (Muuto), Tony Chambers (Wallpaper) and Jürgen Mayer.

Official food+drink partner of BDW was Manjez. Exactly as fitting, it happened to me that I had to rephrase the order of Caprese salad and french-fries into Serbian salad and baked potato. Then slant it to the one side for the fat to drain down… What can you do when nothing can be taken into the building. If you’re nice. And when it’s about the food – I tend not to be.

In the basement – Talent zone. Each one of about ten people who deserved to be a part of BDW board based on their knowledge, status, experience, invited a few young people considered to be worth of presenting to the public. They had the space, electricity, internet. The cooperation with the curators and the advices on the work presentation would mean much more to the talents than the exhibition itself including the feedback one can get when at this phase. Some of the kids were REALLY lucky. The best example are the video clips based on the legendary B92 radio jingles, which were made within the Video Radio B92 workshop led by Igor Orsolic. And Ljudmila Stratimirovic’s efforts in promoting local designers are nothing new. She lasts and her deeds grow bigger and bigger. A story on that coming up.

A beautiful light in the central hall, sneaking around between too warm and cold rooms of stuffy Kluz. It doesn’t matter, for as long as we circulate. For as long it keeps on happening.
